OUR
HISTORY
The journey of PAYDF started from a local based humanitarian organization known as the Frontline Care Initiative (The-FCI) which primarily works closely with local communities to provide lasting response to socio-economic challenges of displaced persons and victims of the Northern Nigeria armed conflcit through capacity building and economic empowerment. Realizing the fact that during armed conflcit and other related emergency situation, women and children are the ones who often suffered and by that they became vulnerable and exposed to all forms of human rights violations and neglect that left them traumatized.
In this regard, The-FCI is basically committed to alleviate the suffering of the less-privileged persons and victims of armed conflicts in Northern Nigeria. The organization has supported women and girls in areas of education, economic empowerment, and delivery of health care services. For instance, under our education initiative programme known as Education for Partnership Impact (EPI) 23 out of school’s student were identified and enroll back to school. In same vein, The-FCI provided capacity building training that encourages economic self-sufficiency for women in displaced communities once ravaged by terrorist group (Boko-haram) in North east, Nigeria. For example, in 2016 to 2018 the organization provided financial support and training for 310 women who lost their sources of livelihoods as the result of Boko-haram activities. The-FCI strongly believe that empowering women and girls is an opportunity to effect lives, and by that we have rebuilt lost business and restored the means of livelihood under the Women Empowerment Scheme (WES) and build their confidence and resilience.
Along this responsibilities, The-FCI enlighten and educated communities on the value of food nutrition, maternal care for pregnant women and new born babies in a conflcit zone communities. Also, children between the age of 5-10 received multivitamins and other foods supplement to alleviate malnourishment that sometimes lead to loss of lives of children. In our effort to mitigate the impact of the conflcit on women and children food and shelter were provided especially for children in IDP’s camp and host communities to curb hunger and other issues of concerns to internal displaced persons.
